A doula is someone who supports women and their families, emotionally and physically, during pregnancy, childbirth and early parenthood. During childbirth, the doula provide continuous support to the labouring mother and her partner to include; emotional support, comfort measures, information about birth choices and labour progression, and helps aid communication between the mother and her healthcare professionals.
